ROUGH JUSTICE: ’84 PUZZLES

Overview

Puzzles (mini-games) are a big part of the Rough Justice: ’84 experience. Quite often you’ll be given the option to complete a case either with an agent stat roll, or by completing a puzzle. They are a mix of reflex and logical challenges, which are era, and genre-specific.

Bypass

Manipulate the settings to circumvent the alarm. Attach the wires through the nodes to find the right circuit path.

Decryption

Match the code snippets according to the left-to-right sequence at the bottom of the screen.

– Reference the string of numbers at the bottom of the screen from left to right.

– Select the associated pairs of numbers in the correct sequence.

Fingerprints

By referencing the provided source fingerprints, attempt to recreate it based on the provided source material within the database.

Using the arrows on the monitor, match the fingerprint on the print out.

Hotwire

Connect the wires from the steering column to the ignition. Use the fuse box schematic to work TOP TO BOTTOM for the correct sequence.

– Attach wires from the steering column to the ignition unit by dragging them out.

– Each cable has a number, as does the ignition tumbler.

– Use the fuse box schematic to determine the correct sequence.

– Switch between the ignition view and the fuse box view with [Right Mouse].

Identifier

By referencing the provided driver’s licenses, find the matching IDs on the microfilm reader. Zoom in, scroll and select the target.

Look at the licenses on the desk and then try to find the ‘false’ data.

Look at the picture on the licenses by right clicking.

Lockpick

Bypass the lock within the allotted time by moving the pick to knock up the pins in the correct sequence.

– Knock pins in the correct order, to put them into the “up” position.

– Once all pins are in the correct position, the lock will release.

– If you hit the wrong pin, they will reset.

Morse

By referencing the morse code decoder, listen to the beeps, and look at the flashing lights to determine the correct input within the allocated time. Every letter is represented by dots and/or dashes.

Decode the message by pressing the appropriate character on the keyboard.

Photofit

Align the slices to find the target in the database.

By referencing the provided sketch, attempt to recreate it based on facial source material within the database.

Polygraph

In order to help calibrate the polygraph, you MUST LIE. Choose the WRONG ANSWERS to the presented questions before the time runs out.

For example, The polygraph will ask ‘Are there peanuts in peanut butter?’ the answer being YES. You would then invert this to NO.

  • Each question will have a binary yes or no answer.

  • Answer incorrectly to beat the machine.

Redaction

Redact pertinent information from transcripts. The information to be redacted falls under the category of first names, last names, districts, and dates.

When reading through the transcript, click to redact any sensitive data such as names, districts and dates.

Safecrack

Using the intel, turn the dials to solve the equations and unlock the safe.

Reference the written down codes on the piece of paper on the right, to figure out the correct position of each tumbler on the safe within the allocated time.

Sequencer

Manipulate the settings to circumvent the alarm. Attach the wires through the nodes to find the right circuit path.

Shoeprints

By referencing the provided source shoe prints, attempt to recreate it based on the provided source material within the database.

Using the arrows on the monitor, match the shoe based on the print out.

Shreds

Reassemble the document by placing the shreds in the correct, legible order.

Select, pick up, and drag each paper shred to reassemble the document within the allocated time.

Phreaking

Use the DCrypt to find the correct password by matching the dial tones, the closer you are to the correct tone the higher the pitch on the progress bar.

Each letter you hit will let you know in a ‘Colder/Warmer’ style how close you are. The more lights that light up, the closer you are to the letter.

Switches

Find the right combination of switches to raise the power level.

Manipulate the switches until the power level bar is filled. each action can impact a previous switch.

Tracker

Manipulate the settings to circumvent the alarm. Attach the wires through the nodes to find the right circuit path.

Triangulator

Adjust the frequency to scan for pings and isolate the location of the signal.

Move the frequency line on the right-hand side to be within the signal sweep range cone to isolate the location by using the left and right arrows on the device.

Tumblers

Adjust the voltage to each tumbler to raise the power level.

Work the tumblers to overload the system and grant access by making sure each light is at its brightest.

Wave Decoder

Match up the waves within the allocated time.

Adjust the amplitude and wavelength knobs to match up the source waves.

X-Ray

Monitor the conveyor belt as bags and items move through it from right to left. Mark ONLY the contraband items in the suitcases. Keep an eye out for false positives.

– Use [Left Mouse] to flag potential contraband items.

– Contraband items can consist of weapons and explosive devices.

– If you select too many items that are not considered contraband, you will fail.

VCR Tracker

Clean up the signal until you can clearly see the video.

Turn the three dials to adjust the horizontal sync, vertical sync and static to get a clear picture on the television.
